We have seen runaway horses and runaway kids, but last Monday saw the first runaway automobile. It was Chas. Blodgetts' big Pierce-Arrow touring car which was left standing in front of the Forest House and in the absence of its owner took a notion to run down the steep hill toward the Omaha depot, and ended up in the ditch before it had run 100 feet. With the aid of a few bystanders Blodgett was able to push the car from its awkward position and proceed to Marshfield. He stated that the brakes had not been set and no doubt a gust of wind got the car into motion. Luckily no damage was done, but had the car followed the straight course to the depot there is no telling as to what the consequences would have been.
