Bania, Paul (25 JAN 1872 - 18 FEB 1950)

Funeral services with a solemn requiem mass for Paul Bania, 78, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 1950, were held Wednesday, Feb 22 at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church at Junction (Clark Co., Wis.), with Rev. Jerome Kamla officiating and Rev. Father Piekarski and Rev. Father Kaim acting as deacon and sub-deacon.

Mr. Bania was born in Poland, Jan. 25, 1872. He came to the United States in January 1893.

He was married to Antoinette Kura in Chicago, Nov. 24, 1903. They came to the town of Thorp to live in 1905 and they farmed near Junction until 1922 when they went to Bridgeport, Ohio, returning in 1928, where he farmed and lived until his death.

His wife preceded him in death in Aug. 1939.

Mr. Bania was a member of the Polish National Alliance for 51 years and of the Holy Name Society at St. Mary’s.

He is survived by 10 children: Walter of Stanley; Paul, William, Leo and Frank of St. Louis, Mo.; Stanley of Washington, D. C.; Joe and Victoria and Mrs. Ed (Anne) Bocian of Chicago; Mrs. George Szczech of Stanley and by 12 grandchildren. Burial was in St. Mary’s Czestochowa Cemetery. Six sons acted as pallbearers.
