Gostomski, Edith (21 JAN 1950)

Miss Edith Gostomski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gostomski of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Mr. John Staron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Staron, also of Thorp, on Saturday, Jan. 21, 1950 in Resurrection Church in Chicago. Rev. O’Rourke officiated the double ring ceremony at 10:30 nuptial mass. The bride approached the altar with her father to the strains of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. The altar was decorated with mixed flowers.

The bride was attired in a gown of white satin which was styled in a full skirt with a train, long pointed sleeves and a Mandarin beaded collar. Her fingertip veil, edged in lace, was attached to a white satin bonnet. Her bouquet was a spray of white roses and an orchid. Towards the end of the ceremony she laid a bouquet of white gladiolas at the Blessed Virgin Altar while the organist played and san "On This Day O Beautiful Mother."

The bride chose her sister Rosemary as maid of honor. She wore a sapphire blue satin formal styled with a bull skirt, a peplum cap sleeves, Mandarin collar and matching gauntlets. The bridesmaids were Miss Harriet Gostomski, another sister of the bride, and Miss Laurie Staron, a sister of the groom. They had identical gowns to that of the maid of honor but of a light American Beauty hue. All three attendants wore matching bonnets and carried sprays of yellow roses.

The groom’s best man was his brother Ed and Frank Gostomski Jr., the bride’s brother, also was an attendant. They and the groom all wore tuxedos with carnations in their lapels.

A dinner was served to the immediate family after the ceremony at the groom’s home in Northlake, Ill. In the evening a dance was held at Club Cabana, preceded by a buffet supper to about 125 guests. A sincere wish is extended by relatives and friends to the newly married couple for a happy future.
