Wepfer, William (30 Apr. 1878 - 23 Mar. 1960)

William Wepfer of Colby, Wisconsin died at his home Wednesday morning at 5:30 A.M. at the age of 81 years after suffering a stroke five days ago. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 P.M. at the Hansen Funeral Chapel and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. He was a member of the Christian church.

Mr. Wepfer was born on April 30, 1878, in Marshfield. He married Mabel Gray on December 20, 1899, by the late Rev. L. Thom at the home of the bride’s parents in Marshfield. In 1902 the couple moved to Stevens Point where Mr. Wepfer was employed by the Coye Manufacturing Company. Two years later they returned to Marshfield and Mr. Wepfer resumed employment with the Upham Manufacturing Company, where he began working when he was 12 years of age. They moved to a farm west of Colby in 1909, making that their home until 14 years ago, when they moved to the city of Colby, Wis.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Altine) Stoltzman of Marshfield, Mrs. Harold (Maydell) Brockhause of Colby, Mrs. Delbert (Goldie) Klepzig of Decatur, Ill.; eight grand children; six great grand children; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Bubolz of Pittsville and Mrs. Albert Plat of Port Edwards. A daughter, one son, three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

Since coming to Colby, Mr. Wepfer was known to everyone who knew him as a kindly old gentleman, friendly in every way.
