Frantz, Bessie (22 SEP 1906)

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad G. Frantz was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Saturday evening. At exactly one minute to five o’clock the wedding march began from a room in the chamber and proceeded to the place where the wedding was to be celebrated. Rev. Albert R. Rice, the officiating clergyman, led the march, followed by a little flower girl with an exquisite armful of red and white carnations; then followed the first bridesmaid, Miss Clara Wiesner, attended by the best man, Mr. Emil L. Roethe of Edgerton, brother of the groom. Following them was Miss Maud Ruddock, attended by another close friend of the groom, Dr. Bailey of Fennimore; and finally the bride, Miss Bessie Frantz, attended by the groom, Mr. Edward J. Roethe. At five o’clock sharp the ceremony began in the presence of many admiring friends and relatives, and precipitated in as joyous an occasion as one could wish. If genuine laughter was indicative of happiness, everyone was happy that night.

Immediately after the ceremony was completed guests to the number of about a hundred sat down to a most sumptuous repast. Mr. and Mrs. Roethe were the recipients of many beautiful and valuable presents indicative of the esteem in which they were held.

The bride is well known in this community (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) as one of our popular young women. The groom is a prosperous young editor of Fennimore, Wis., editing one of the best papers in southwestern Wisconsin.

The happy young couple took an evening train for the east where they will spend their honeymoon. Our best wishes and hopes will accompany them through life.

The photo below was in the Warlum Family Album and was contributed by Michael Warlum.  We couldn't place the occassion with any certainty but have placed it here, thinking it may have been taken at the wedding of Bessie Frantz and Edward Roethe.  If you have additional information regarding it, please contact us.
