Henry Johann Buttke (23 Mar 1834 - 30 Mar 1930)

 

Well Known Resident Of The Town Of Herman, Wisconsin Dies Sunday

 

Henry Buttke. 95, well-known resident of town of Herman, died at 12 30 o'clock Sunday noon at the home of his son, Richard Buttke, in Herman township. He had been in good health despite his advanced age until a week ago, when he accidentally fell and broke his left arm. Concussion of the brain developed which resulted in the pioneer's death.  

 

Mr. Buttke was born in Pommern, Germany, March 23, 1834. He left his native land in 1868, landing in New York from which port he continued his journey in this section of the state. For a number of years he worked as a farm hand in the town of Scheswig. In 1870 his marriage with Mrs. Emily Boeger was solemnized and the couple settled on a farm near Johnsonville in the town of Sheboygan Falls.

 

Mrs. Buttke preceded her husband in death in 1896. Since 1904, Mr. Buttke had been living in the town of Herman. Mr. Buttke's son, Richard, has always made his home with his father. The survivors are a son, Richard, three step-sons, Louis Boeger of Johnsonville; Ernest Boeger of Strafford, Missouri; and Fred Boeger of Johnsonville; one step-daughter, *Mrs. Fred (Philippine Amelia Boeger) Distelhorst of Dorchester, Wisconsin; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Walter Ahrens Funeral Home in Howards Grove. Rev. E. Traeger of the Mission House College will officiate and interment will be made in the Reformed church cemetery near Johnsonville.

 

*Philippine Amelia (Boeger) Distelhorst was the daughter of Antoine and Amelia (Wipprect) Boeger.
