LaFlex, Don Etta (24 SEP 1949)

Don Etta LaFlex, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank La Flex of Stanley, became the bride of Malen Teclaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Teclaw of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church here on the morning of Sept. 24th, 1949.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, was beautifully attired in a colonial style gown of white satin trimmed with lace and rhinestones and wore a long train. Her fingertip veil fell froma heart shaped crown and she wore the groom’s gift of a rhinestone necklace. She carried a white satin tuffed muff and her wedding bouquet was of white orchids and small mums.

The couple was attended by Marion Teclaw and Leona Stroinksi as best man and first bridesmaid. Miss Stroinski wore a dark green satin dress with hoop style skirt, with sweetheart neckline and puffed sleeves. Leon Teclaw and Frances Sawczuk served as second attended couple. Miss Sawczuk wore a dress identical to that of the first bridesmaid.

During the ceremony the bride carried a bouquet of flowers to the altar of the Blessed Virgin while the groom approached St. Joseph’s altar. Mrs. Leon Kaczmarek sang "Ave Maria" and "Mother At Your Feet We’re Kneeling."

Iva LaFlex, amid of honor, wore a gold satin similar in style to the bridesmaids, with braided headpiece. All carried satin braided muffs of gold and green chrysanthemums and the bride’s gift of opal necklaces and earrings.

The bride’s mother was attired in a wine colored dress and the groom’s mother grey. Both wore corsages of gardenias.

The groom and his attendants wore tuxedos.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents in the Town of Withee, and a wedding dance was given at the Mileaway Ballroom in the evening.

The newlyweds are now residing in the city of Thorp.
