Soborowicz, Frances (4 JUN 1949)

Miss Frances Soborowicz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Soborowicz of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of John Zurakowski of Thorp, in a two-ring ceremony performed by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church on the morning of June 4th, 1949.

The couple was attended by Vernon Lewandowski, as best man, and Valeria Soborowicz, sister of the bride as bridesmaid. Miss Soborowicz was attired in an ice blue gown of marquisette over taffeta with a full hoop skirt. She wore a cape edged in white lace and matching head piece.

The bride was beautifully gowned in white slipper satin with sweetheart neckline and embroidered with pearl and silver beads. Her full hoop skirt ended in a long train edged in French lace and the sleeves were pointed at the wrist. Her long veil, edged with lace, fell from a crown of pearl and rhinestones. The groom’s gift was rhinestone earrings, bracelet and necklace. Her bridal bouquet was of white roses, orchids and lilies of the valley bound with white ribbon and streamers.

Miss Theresa Borowski, a cousin of the groom, also served as bridesmaid and wore a yellow dress identical to that of the first bridesmaid. Junior bridesmaids were Lucille Soborowicz and Phyllis Zurakowski, sister of the groom, who were attired in dresses of green and baby pink similar to the first bridesmaids. The bridesmaids wore rhinestone necklaces, gifts of the bride.

The groom, his best man, and the ushers, Frank Soborowicz Jr., wore dark tuxedoes and white rose boutonnieres, as did the fathers of the couple.

The ring bearer, Tony Soborowicz, brother of the bride, carried a white satin pillow trimmed with lace and lilies of the valley. The flower girl, Barbara Friysch, wore white and carried a bouquet of pink roses and white baby breath tied with colored ribbons. She also wore a heart shaped locket, the gift of the bride.

The bride’s mother was attired in a navy dress with pink accessories and pink rose corsage, while the groom’s mother wore a violet dress with pink rose corsage.

A reception to the couple was held at the .N.A. Hall at Thorp after the ceremony. The couple left on a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Canada. They will make their home near here on a farm.
