Coilby, Wis. - Apr. 16, 1959

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Loos left Saturday for Tennessee and expect to be gone a week.

Conrad Orth, Sr., returned from the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gries of Sheboygan, former Colby residents, are spending the week with relatives in Colby and Spencer.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wiersig and two children of Two Rivers spent the weekend with Mrs. Wm. C. Pacholke of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. George Greaser of Abbotsford, Wis.

Clarence Dolan of Abbotsford, accompanied by Mike Stieber of Colby and Nyole Creed of Unity, autoed to Rhinelander Saturday where the three postmasters attended a meeting of postmasters.

Mrs. Carl Dallman of Colby, Route 1, Mrs. George Kadonsky of Abbotsford, Route 1, and Mrs. Martin Parsons of Dorchester, Route 1, represented the Cherokee district at a meeting of the Marathon County Homemakers’ Association Executive Board in Wausau April 6.

Army Pvt. Arlyn J. Schneider, age 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Schneider of Colby, is participating with the 505th Signal Group in "Exercise Sand Burr" at Fort Hauschca, Ariz. Arlyn, a graduate of Colby High School, class of 1958, entered the U.S. Army last September.

Frederick C. Diedrich, Jr., boilerman third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. Diedrich of Colby, is serving aboard the heavy cruiser USS Des Moines, flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean which is taking part in the vast fleet maneuver known as "Operation Big Deal".

Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Waldhart and daughter, Debra, of Appleton, spent the week-end with the former’s mother, Mrs. Edna Waldhart, and helped her celebrate her birthday anniversary.
