Mitzlaff, La Verna (Marriage - 5 Sept. 1937)

Miss LaVerna Mitzlaff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mitzlaff of Abbotsford, was united in marriage to Mr. Reuben Platteter, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Platteter of Stetsonville, Saturday, September 5th.

A simple ceremony was performed at 9:30 a.m. by the Rev. J. Brandt at the Dorchester Lutheran parsonage.

The bride, attired in white mousseline d’soir, wore a long tulle veil and carried white roses.

Miss Adeline Mitzlaff, Milwaukee, the bride’s attendant, wore aqua-blue satin with silver accessories and the bridesmaid, Miss Elizabeth Vircks of Stetsonville, was gowned in maize satin with gold accessories. Their shoulder bouquets were composed of roses and forget-me-nots.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Alvin Platteter, Milwaukee, and Arthur Meschefske, Abbotsford, Wis.

A reception was held in the afternoon at the home of the bride’s parents for relatives and friends. The house was decorated for the occasion with aqua-blue, maize and white streamers, garden flowers and ferns.

A wedding supper was served to the guests at five o’clock. The couple later departed on a trip to Niagara Falls and points in Canada. They will reside at Stetsonville and will be at home to friends after September 11.
