Freid, Walter (13 November 1904 - 23 November 1970)

Funeral services for Walter Freid, 66, of Rt. 2 Neillsville who died November 23, in Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, were held Friday, November 27, from Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine Valley. The Rev. Evan Dieck officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Smith Funeral Chapel of Eau Claire was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Freid was born November 13, 1904. He had been a resident of Eau Claire for 20 years until moving to the Neillsville area nine years ago. He had been employed by Presto Industries, Inc. for over 24 years.

Survivors include his wife, Anne, of Neillsville; two daughters, Mrs. George (Sally) Mohr of Eau Claire and Mrs. Ted (Marian) Linster of Neillsville; a foster son, Nyole Fuller of Sacramento, CA.; and a granddaughter, Heather Leigh Mohr, of Eau Claire. He is further survived by five brothers, George, Ralph, Ernest and Alfred, Jr., all of Eau Claire and Joseph of Moraga, Calif.; and by three sisters, Mrs. Robert Seager, Mrs. W. H. Fletty, and Mrs. Delos Pendergast, all of Eau Claire.

Pallbearers were Jack Swan, Alfred Sukopp, and Don Christianson of Eau Claire, and Andrew Turczyn, Glen Lavey, and Ernest Horehled of Neillsville. Wilfred Galstad sang, “My God, and I” and “Beyond the Sunset” accompanied by Mrs. Ken Karnitz.

Friends and relatives attending the services came from Eau Claire, Altoona, Eleva, Fall Creek, Westfield, Mequon, Milwaukee, Rochester, Minn., Vanport, Wash., and Moraga, Calif.
