Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Golden - 3 November 1970)

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Murphy of Neillsville celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary with an open house held October 31 at the Dairyland Fox and Coon Hunters’ clubhouse.

Frank Murphy and the former Lucille Macknick of Fairchild were married November 3, 1920 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood by Father Achtelek. Their attendants were Miss Gertrude Stiefvater, now of Riverside, Calif., and the late Fred Murphy. The Murphys live on their farm near Christie for 40 years, then moved to Christie for five years and have been Neillsville residents for the last five years.

Mr. and Mrs. Murphy are the parents of six children. Their three daughters are Mrs. Arnold (Gertrude) Johnson of Greenwood, Mrs. John (Frances) Ormond of Neillsville, and Mrs. James (Margie) Kurasz of Greenwood. Their sons are Bernard of Greenwood, Harold of Black River Falls, and Art of Neillsville. They also have 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. All were present for the anniversary observance with the exception of three grandchildren. Those who were unable to attend were Gary Johnson, stationed with the army in Korea, Mrs. David Feltman of New Mexico, and Mrs. John Chonsepulveda of Missouri.

Approximately 200 guests were present at the open house, where they were served anniversary cake baked by the Murphy’s daughter Frances. A floral bouquet which was a gift from all their children was a special feature of the decorations.

Well-wishers came from Nekoosa, Belleville, Independence, Stevens Point, Eau Claire, Fairchild, Wisconsin Rapids, Greenwood, Christie, Loyal, Milwaukee, Withee, Marathon and Neillsville.
