Hoffman, Harold G. (21 June 1903 - 10 July 1935)

Harold Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hoffman, of Abbotsford, passed away at his home Wednesday afternoon. Although Harold had been in poor health for a long time, his death struck a note of sadness throughout the entire community.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. L. C. Smith officiating.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Harold G. Hoffman, who passed away at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoffman on Wednesday afternoon, July 10 at one o’clock, after an illness of six months, at the age of 32 years and 19 days.

He was born at Stevens Point, June 21, 1903. When he was eight years old the family moved to Abbotsford and have been residents here since that time.

Harold graduated from the Abbotsford high school with the class of 1921, and then attended the Wausau Business Institute from which he graduated in 1922. From then until the time of his death, he was associated with his father in the lumber business here. He was a member of the Masonic order and the Modern Woodmen of America.

The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church with the Rev. I. C. Smith officiating, after which Masonic rites were held at the cemetery. Those who acted as pallbearers were Harry Ketcham, Benjamin Wing and Wilbur Kuehnast of Abbotsford, Harold Crane of Manawa, Anthony Hennlich of Curtiss and Herbert Behrens of Dorchester, Wis. The flowers were in charge of 30 members of the Eastern Star and the Misses LaVerne Tessmer, Irene and Norma Roth of Colby, Wis. and Mrs. Orson Adams.

The many floral offerings were evidence of the high esteem in which Harold was held in this and surrounding community, and the fact that many who came to attend the funeral were unable to do so because of lack of room in the church, is evidence of his many friends who will miss him.

Relatives from out of town who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hogle and son, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marlatt, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Raichle of Milwaukee, Fred Blanchfield and family and Mrs. Schilling of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hibbard and son Floyd and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Neault of Knowlton, Mr. and Mrs. C. Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Winslow and Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Hoffman of Wausau, Mrs. Fred Odenwalder of Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Winslow of Rib Lake, and friends from Wausau, Owen, Chippewa Falls, Marshfield, Colby, Medford and Athens.
