Ehlert, Ardath E. (10 AUG 1947)

The rectory of St. Hedwig’s Church (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.)was the setting Aug. 10, 1947 at 2 p.m. when Miss Ardath Eve Ehlert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Ehlert, was married to Robert M. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Carter of Perry, Iowa. The marriage rite was read by Rev. Piekarski.

The bride wore a white satin dress with a long train and long sleeves. The neckline was edged with lace, which was also seen in panels in the dress and sleeves. The bodice was trimmed with pearl orange blossoms. Her imported fingertip veil was banded with lace and held in place by a coronet of seed pearls. She carried an all white arm bouquet of gladioli and roses. The satin streamers held baby mums.

Mrs. Richard Bains, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, Miss Jo Ann Papierniak was bridesmaid. They wore pale yellow marquisette dresses with three quarter length sleeves edged in lace. The long bouffant skirts had cascades of lace ruffles down the back and short trains. Both wore matching yellow picture hats and carried colonial bouquets of white gladioli with pale yellow daisies in the centers. Yellow streamers held more daisies.

Don Huibregtse of Boulder Junction, Wis., was best man. Justin Rosemeyer also attended the groom.

The mother of the bride wore a luggage brown dress with dark brown accessories. Her corsage was composed of talisman roses.

Cocktails, champagne and canapés were served at the bride’s home preceding supper for the guests.

When the couple left by plane for a brief honeymoon the bride wore a pearl grey suit with white accessories.

The groom has attended several sessions of the Hilton Laboratories Poultry Serviceman’s Training School in Minneapolis. The bride attended Marquette University. Both are graduates of Thorp High School. The groom operates a poultry farm and hatchery near Thorp.
