Schmelzer, Augusta (15 Dec. 1877 - 12 Mar. 1958)

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Zion Lutheran church for Mrs. Augusta Schmelzer who died Wednesday morning, March 12, at the age of 80 years, at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital where she had been a patient since February. Rev. William Christian officiated at the rites and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Richard Goldschmitt, Elmer Wellhoefer, Wm. Sachse, Reinhead Wiersig, Harold Wiersig, and Leonard Wilde.

Mrs. Schmelzer, nee Lenk, was born in Germany on December 15, 1877. She married Julius Schmelzer on February 10, 1900. They came to the United States about 31 years ago and settled in the town of Hull. He died in August, 1951.

Survivors are two sons, Ernst, of the town of Hull and Fred of Colby, six grand children and a brother, William, in Germany.

Mrs. Schmelzer was well known by her neighbors and friends for her fine Christian character and industrious disposition, always willing to perform her duties cheerfully and well.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wellhoefer of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lenk of Barrington, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lenk of Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wilde of Edgar, Mrs. Otto Wilde of Edgar and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baumann of Hamburg.
