Humbird (22 October 1970)

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lilliskov of Minneapolis called Sunday at the Arnold Matti home and on other friends in this area.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierce of Neillsville called on Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Matti Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Olson and his mother, Mrs. Johanna Olson, spent the weekend at the Walter Burkhalter home in Rockford, Ill.

Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin last week were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nibbe and Rusty of Portage, Ind., Mrs. Norman Nibbe and Mrs. Alma Tracy of Hobart, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Matt Kubicek of Owatonna, Minn.

Mrs. Jim Trachsel and children and Mrs. Mild red Trachsel enjoyed the beautiful weather Sunday by taking a drive to the Seymour tower where Jim works. They were surprised to see several apple orchards and the trees still loaded with apples.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe were Eau Claire business visitors Monday.

Mrs. Donald Staves suffered a broken hip while in the hospital at Marshfield and is in serious condition.

The North Branch Homemakers club will meet Thursday at the home of Mrs. Perle Pickett, a member of the club for several years, and help her celebrate her birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pierce of Black River Falls were supper guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Will Theiler and also called on Mrs. Millie Trachsel.

Mrs. Harriette Gorst was a business caller in Eau Claire Tuesday.

Mrs. Dawn Johnson of Altoona brought her mother, Mrs. Elgie Hardwick, home Saturday after she had spent several days visiting in Iron River and Altoona.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fitzmaurice and family of Augusta were dinner guests Sunday of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Holman of Chicago were overnight guests Sunday at the Elmer Duerkop home.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe drove to Marshfield Saturday to call on Mrs. Ben Clouse of Loyal who had surgery in the hospital there.

Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Meyer and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Staves and children of St. Paul were weekend guests at the Lyle Newell home. Mr. and Mrs. Staves also visited at the Donald Staves home and called on his mother in the Marshfield hospital.

Mrs. Bertha Holman and mother, Mrs. Marie Hefty of Augusta, visited Mrs. Freida Zerbel Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Hefty is able to walk with the use of a can and gets about quite well.

Mr and Mrs. William Staves, Mrs. Matie Smith, Mrs. Freida Zerbel and Art Christen were dinner and afternoon guests of Mrs. Emma Gerber Sunday.

Mike Kirby of St. Paul spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Kirby.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duerkop and Alton, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Duerkop of Stevens Point attended the Northfield Go-Getters 4-H Achievement program and dinner Sunday. Jim gave a talk on India and Alton on his trip this summer.

Mrs. Emma Haag and son, Leonard, of Melrose were dinner guests Sunday of her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe. In the afternoon all went to Neillsville to call on their sister, Mrs. Mary Iffland.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson and family visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Zuehlke, in Loyal Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Laura Dignin spent a long weekend with her daughter, Mrs. Gil Blom in Price.

Mr and Mrs. Willis Johnson and children of Appleton spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege.
