Gierl, Nick R. (20 June 1905 - 4 Oct. 1957)

Nick R. Gierl died Friday morning at ? at the age of 52 years, at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where he had been a patient since September 29, a heart ailment being the cause of his death. Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Howard Hause, Fred Zassenhaus, Jr., Angus Lamont, Jr., Ervin Meyer, Alois Gabriel and Ervin Primeau.

Mr. Gierl was born in Colby, Wisconsin on June 20, 1905, and married Lorena Schill here in July, 1929. He was the owner and operator of a drive-in refreshment stand for the past few years, and, prior to that time, had been a salesman and service station operator and janitor at St. Mary’s School. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Wilbur of Madison and Robert and Kenneth of Colby; two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Joan) Leffel of Colby and Mrs. Gerald (Elaine) Hebert of Fort Hueneme, Calif.; a half-sister, Mrs. Oliver Kesler of Greenwood; five grand children.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were from Fond du Lac, Owen, Stratford, Campbellsport, Dorchester, Milwaukee, Clintonville, Stevens Point, Wausau, Spencer, Auburndale and Weyauwega.
