Blanchard, Ruth (Marriage - 31 Aug. 1957)

Miss Ruth Blanchard, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. George Blanchard, and Norman Ewert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Ewert, were united in marriage in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby Saturday, Aug. 31, 1957, at 11:00 A.M., Rev. John Pinion officiating at the nuptial ceremony. Miss Patricia Blanchard, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Eldora Gutenberger, a friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by his brother, Melvin Ewert, as best man, and by Emil Untiedt, Jr., as groomsman. Flower girls were Terry, Peggy, and Mary Lynn Packard, nieces of the bride. The bride walked down the aisle on the arm of her father.

The bride was attired in a gown with bodice of white chantilly lace with Sabrina neck line embroidered in seed pearls and star sequins, long sleeves ending in points at the wrists, bouffant skirt of nylon tulle over net and satin, lace flowers embroidered on skirt with pearls and sequins. Her silk illusion fingertip veil was held in place by a tiara of lace, pearls and sequins. Her bouquet consisted of red roses and carnations.

The maid of honor wore a dress of coral nylon organdy, waltz length and the bridesmaid wore a dress of French blue nylon organdy, waltz length. Their bouquets consisted of coral and white gladiola. The flower girls wore dresses of white, coral and French blue, respectively. They carried colonial bouquets of sweet peas and nylon net to match their dresses. The mother of the bride wore a dress of orchid lace with white accessories. The mother of the groom wore a dress of peacock blue with white accessories.

A reception and dinner were held at St. Mary’s gym after which the newlyweds left on a trip to Northern Wisconsin. They will make their home in Madison where the groom is attending the University of Wisconsin.

Guests were from Illinois, Milwaukee, Sussex, Minneapolis, Marshfield, Spencer, Unity, Dorchester, Owen and Colby, Wis.
