Kittelson, Phyliss (20 MAR 1948)

One of the prettiest spring wedding ceremonies of the season was officiated at the Zion Lutheran Church at International Falls, Minn., a week ago Saturday, March 20th, 1948, when Miss Phyllis Kittelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kittelson of International Falls, Minn., and Walter Klay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Klay, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were united in marriage at a candlelight ceremony. The ceremony performed at seven o’clock that evening was read by Rev. R. O. Evans.

The interior of the church was attractively decorated with spring flowers. Previous to the ceremony, Miss Sharon Davis sang "I Love You Truly" and "O Perfect Love." Mrs. Evans played the accompaniment.

Entering the church with her father, who gave her in marriage, the bride was attired in a gown of heavy white satin fashioned with a long train. Seed pearls trimmed the front of the gown and the crown of her lace edged fingertip veil. The skirt was ruffled at the hem line. She wore a three strand pearl choker necklace, a gift of the bridegroom. Her flowers were dark pink roses and white carnations.

Attending her as matron of honor was Mrs. Beed Cyr, a sister and bridesmaids, Esther Klay, sister of the groom and Misses Carlyn and Marilyn Kittelson, twin sisters of the bride. Miss Klay wore a gown of pink taffeta with a hooped skirt with long matching gloves and wore a chapel veil. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations and sweet peas. Her matron of honor was gowned in pale chiffon over taffeta and wore a chapel veil and wore and wore matching gloves. Her flowers were pink gladiolas and carnations. The bride’s twin sisters were attired in yellow formals and wore white short gloves. In their hair they wore a halo of yellow flowers and carried a colonial nose gay of spring flowers. Trevor Kittelson, ring bearer, was dressed in a white and brown suit and carried the ring on a small white satin pillow.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother John as best man and groomsman, Bee Cyr. Leonard Kittelson and Jack Delworth served as ushers.

The bride’s mother attended the wedding wearing an aqua dress with black accessories and corsage of yellow roses. Mrs. Klay, mother of the bridegroom, chose a black dress with white accessories. She had a corsage of red and white roses.

A reception was given in the church parlors immediately following the ceremony.

The young couple will make their home at the Sleepy Hollow Cabins at International Falls, Minn., where Mr. Klay is employed in a co-op store.
