Ohlinger, Bert (15 Aug. 1888 - 27 July 1957)

Bert Ohlinger of Athens, a former resident of the town of Hull, died at 11:42 P.M. Saturday in the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where he had been admitted earlier in the day, at the age of nearly 69 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:30 o’clock, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Nephews served as pall bearers - Hubert Apfelbeck, Leo Apfelbeck, Albert Kunze, Jr., Donald Kunze, Lawrence Kunze, all of this area, and Mr. Gindt of Boyd.

Mr. Ohlinger, a veteran of World War I, was born in the town of Hull on August 15, 1888. He engaged in farming for several years after which he was employed in Michigan, in C.C. camps and lumber camps. He was married twice and both his wives preceded him in death.

Surviving are three children, Charles of Athens, Gerald of Franklin Park, Ill., and Mrs. Paul Sullerton of Sox Lake, Ill.; three brothers, John, Lawrence and Arnold of Colby; five sisters, Mrs. Art Eberle of Madison, Mrs. Henry Fortman of Ft. Recovery, Ohio, Mrs. Matt Gindt of Boyd, Mrs. Leo Apfelbeck of Colby and Mrs. Albert Kunze of Abbotsford, Wis.

One daughter died in infancy and two sisters preceded him in death, Mrs. Carl Apfelbeck and Mrs. Robert Schmitt, both of Colby, Wis.

The deceased will be remembered here by many for his friendly and kindly disposition, honest in all his dealings and a man who always endeavored to do his duties to the best of his ability.
