Laube, Bernice (26 JUN 1947)

The First Congregational Church, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), was the scene of a lovely June wedding on Thursday, June 26th, 1947, when Miss Berniece Laube, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laube, Owen, became the bride of Edward Potocnik, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Potocnik, Owen. The nuptial rites were read by Rev. Myron Glick. Miss Kathryn Zivney played the processional music, while Misses Harriet and Eunice Marking sang "I Love You Truly," during the ceremony.

The bride was attended by Mrs. Virgil Bublitz, Owen, her sister; and by Miss Alice Moreau, Dale, and Miss Daisy Freidenfels, Minneapolis, niece of the groom. The groom’s attendants were the brother-in-law of the bride, Virgil Bublitz, who was best man, and William Potocnik, brother of the groom, and Harold Laube, brother of the bride, who ushered.

The bride wore a satin gown styled with a beaded neckline and train, and a fingertip veil caught to a beaded headdress. She carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations and pink roses. The matron of honor wore pink net over satin and carried a colonial bouquet of carnations. The bridesmaids were dressed in pink and aqua, respectively.

Following the ceremony a reception honoring the newlyweds was given at the home of the bride’s parents, which was appropriately decorated for the occasion with colorful streamers of pink and white projecting out from a large white wedding bell. Large baskets of garden flowers further enhanced the beauty of the home. More than 150 guests were served at a luncheon with a large three tier wedding cake serving as the centerpiece of the bridal couple’s table.

Both of the young people are well known in this community and have the best wishes of their many friends for their perpetual happiness. They will make their home on a farm nine miles northeast of the city.
