Reseburg. Aug 26.

The oats are not proving quite as good as expected, but the barley and other grain makes up for the loss in oats.

Angus, the oldest son of R.B. Brown, has been quite sick with the scarlatina, but is now on the gain.

E. Bobbs was around this week soliciting money for the new church which is being built at Bobbs’ corners.

Wm. Black sustained quite a loss by fire on Thurday [sic] last. He was threshing his own grain before beginning work for his neighbors, and during the noon hour while the threshing crew were eating their dinner, his barn caught fire in some unknown way. His barn and granary burned. In the fire he lost his hay, most of the grain, two horses, harnesses, farm machinery and many other articles.
