Carskaden, George William (24 October 1866 - 21 December 1949)

George William Carskaden, 83, died December 21, 1949, after an illness of two weeks. Funeral services were conducted from the Georgas Funeral Home Friday afternoon. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery, the Rev. N.J. Dechant officiating.

Mr. Carskaden was born October 24, 1866, to Mr. and Mrs. George Carskaden, Sr., in Jefferson County. He came to Clark County with his parents and received his education in the rural schools here.

He was a carpenter by trade.

After the death of his wife, in 1943, he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. James Hughes. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and a resident of Clark County for 50 years.

On July 4, 1892, he was married to Mattie Shay. One child, Genevieve, was born to this union.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. James Hughes of Greenwood; three half-brothers, Orson, James and Herbert, who reside in Minnesota; and a grandson.

A brother, Frank and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Ida) Yankee, and his wife preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were: Wayne Potter, John Moen, Charles Poole, Elmer Keller, Martin Feuerstein and William Neville, Sr.

Persons from out-of-town attending the services included Mrs. Thomas, George Shay and Gilbert Shay of Arcadia.
