Schmidt, Dorothy Elizabeth (Marriage - 9 July 1948)

At 8:00 a.m. on July 9, (1948), in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Augusta, Miss Dorothy Elizabeth Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Schmidt of Osseo, became the bride of Thomas William Looker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Looker, of Withee. The Rev. Mr. H. Honebein officiated at the single ring ceremony, the date of which coincided with that of the bride’s parents’ 29th wedding anniversary.

The bride, wearing a gown of white satin with net overskirt, and a fingertip veil, carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations. Her maid of honor was Miss Dorothy Welke of Fall Creek. Glen Looker, brother of the groom, served as best man. Usherettes were Mrs. Robert Schmidt of Eleva and Mrs. William Schmidt of Augusta. Miss Patricia Ann Erdman, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Joyce and Mary Loris Stewart, of Eau Claire, provided the music, with the selections "I Love You Truly" and "The Lord’s Prayer".

A reception for 60 guests was held after the ceremony in the church basement, which was decorated with baskets of flowers and pastel streamers. Out-of-town guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Quade and grandson of Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Looker and Glen of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Looker and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Wenzel, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hull, all of Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bloomquist and Elvice of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Iverson and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schmidt of Eleva; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Welke of Fall Creek.

The bride is a graduate of Augusta High School and the groom of Withee High School. After a wedding trip to the Wisconsin Dells and to Baraboo, the young couple will be at home in Eau Claire, where the groom is employed by the National Pressure Cooker.
