Christensen, Evelyn (Marriage - 7 July 1956)

Miss Evelyn Christensen of Marshfield, Route 2, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Christensen, and LaVerne Knoll of Colby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Knoll of Colby, exchanged marriage vows in the First Presbyterian church in Marshfield Saturday, July 7, at 2:30 P.M., Rev. Douglas Ayan reading the marriage ceremony. Bouquets of white gladiolas and snapdragons decorated the church for the ceremony. The couple was attended by Lois Aschebrock of Stratford and John Stumpner of Loyal.

Guests were ushered by Donald Newman of Unity, the groom’s brother-in-law, and Carl Christensen, the bride’s brother.

Embroidered net over satin was used to design the floor-length bridal gown. Scallops edged the square neckline of the button-down-the-back bodice, which had long tapering sleeves. A crown of pleated nylon entwined with seed pearls held her scalloped edged veil in finger-tip length. Sequin clusters adorned the veiling. Stephanotis and green icy streamers were interspersed in the cascade of red Sweetheart roses which the bride carried.

A boat neckline highlighted the light green dress of nylon organdy which the maid of honor chose for the wedding. It was embroidered with flowers, and her headpiece consisted of green and white carnations. Ivy streamers tied her cascade of light green and white carnations.

Immediately following the ceremony the young people and their 175 guests enjoyed a supper at 4:30 o’clock in the Armory. They are now honeymooning in the southern states and Canada.

For the day the bride’s mother chose a light green dress with white accessories, while the groom’s mother donned a beige outfit. Red rosebuds and white carnations were pinned at their shoulderlines.

Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Paul Laux, Mrs. Riley Newman, Mrs. Glen Peterson, Sr., and Mrs. Glen Peterson, Jr., and the Misses Betty Jane Radue, Joyce Ebersold, Rae Jean Nelles, Janalee Bulgrin and Charmaine Thiel.

At the wedding were guests from Colby, Abbotsford, Wisconsin Rapids, Rudolph, New Lisbon, Loyal, Spencer, Unity, Union Grove, Wausau, Waukegan, Ill., Medford, Stratford, Milwaukee, Riplinger, Waterford, Gurner, Ill., Ashland, Hibbing, Minn., Elgin, Ill., and Blair.

The bride, a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School, is a secretary to W. A. Uthmeier of the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce. Her husband, a Mauer Supply Co. employee, graduated from Colby High School. They will live in Hewitt.
