Greg P. Tasse, 88, formerly of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Aurora, Co., where he was admitted a few days earlier. A mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Suzanne Golden was the organist, with Michael Gonering as the vocalist. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Tasse, Ron Tasse, Tim Rhodes, Leonard Czaukowksi, Gene Weyer and Ron Maurer. Military rites were conducted at the cemetery by the VFW Post #1866 of Marshfield.

Greg P. Tasse was born on Sept. 19, 1919, in Bakerville, to Ben and Nellie (nee Steffan) Tasse. He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School in Bakerville. He married Coletta K. Weyer on Nov. 9, 1946, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. She died on Sept. 17, 2002. He served in the United States Air Force During World War ll as a sergeant doing construction of Officers’ quarters in Hawaii for 3 ½ years from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was employed at Mauer’s Roofing for 54 years from 1945 until 1999 when he retired officially at the age of 79.

He enjoyed woodworking and liked to play cards, and truly loved his work. He enjoyed the people he worked with, while providing roofs for residential and commercial clients in the Marshfield area and throughout central Wisconsin. He took tremendous pride in delivering an excellent product and thorough service to all clients no matter how big or small a job might have been.

Besides being a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, he belonged to the Knights of Columbus #1799 of Marshfield, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, VFW Post # 1866 and the Eagles Club. He moved to Colorado in July 2004, to be near his son. Joe. The last of his beloved "Little Red Pickups" sat in the driveway, as a golf cart became his primary transportation to cruise the grounds of a Denver Golf and Country Club Retirement Community and the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort in Tucson, Ariz. He enjoyed "snow birding" in Tucson from November thru May.

Survivors include his son Joe, Aurora, Colo.; and two sisters, Innocence Rhodes, Marshfield, and Dolores (Joe) Czaikowksi, Stevens Point.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Coletta; his daughter, Rita Tasse, on April 13, 1999; three brothers, Edwin, Cyril and Sylvester; and one sister, Cecelia Weyer.

Memorials may be given for Masses at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in his memory.
