Colby (27 Aug. 1901)

J. C. Enright and family have gone to Waupaca for an outing.

R. Johnston visited at the home of his parents in Stanley Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shanks of Greenwood visited K. Andrews and sister Sunday.

Prof. F. M. Jackson has gone to Stevens Point to work up life insurance. Prof. is a hustler.

A game of base ball between the fats and the leans of this city will be an attraction in the near future.

Last Tuesday night as Joe Will was driving across Dill Creek bridge two men jumped at the horses’ heads and stopped them and Joe found himself staring into the muzzles of two revolvers. They then got into the buggy and went through his pockets securing about $8.00. The queer part of it was that a short time before Joe had had a presentiment of coming misfortune and had placed a pocketbook containing $50 and his watch under the seat thereby baffling the malicious designs of these "knights of the road" to a great extent. Too bad somebody can’t fill the anatomies of these gentlemen with a copious amount of cold lead.
