Walter, Virginia #2 (8 AUG 1942)

St. Mary’s Catholic church at Greenwood was the setting for the wedding of Miss Virginia Walter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walter of Greenwood, and Donald Nyyati, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Nyysti, also of Greenwood. The Rev. J. J. Novak officiated at the ceremony which took place Saturday morning, Aug.8, at 9 o’clock in the presence of immediate relatives.

The bride was gowned in white marquisette, made with a shirred bodice, puffed sleeves and a full skirt. Her finger-tip veil was worn with a tiara of flowers, and she carried a small bouquet of pink roses.

Her sister, Mrs. Ed Brumbaugh, who acted as matron of honor, was attired in pink marquisette. Her shoulder corsage was of rubrum lilies. Mrs. Frank Hendrichs, sister of the groom, who was bridesmaid, was dressed in light green satin. Her flowers also were rubrum lilies.

Ed Brumbaugh was best man and the bridegroom also was attended by Stanley Kowalzyk.

Twenty-two persons attended the reception held at the home of the bride’s parents, which was decorated with pink, green and white streamers. A wedding dinner also was served there. Among the out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Roberts and sons Donald and Richard, Highland Park, Ill.; Mrs. Frank Hendricks and son DuWayne and daughter June, North Chicago, Ill.; Richard Walter, Richmond, Ill.; Mrs. Robert Bukosky, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Stanley Kowalzyk and Mr. and Mrs. Matt Nyysti, Longwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Nyysti, Owen, Rev. Novak also was present.

Mr. and Mrs. Nyysti plan to make their home at Greenwood on route four, where the bridegroom is engaged in farming.
