Grass, Lois (Marriage - 24 August 1946)
Miss Lois Grass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Grass of Evanston, Ill., and Theodore Hillert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hillert, Granton, were married August 24 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Evanston, Ill. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. H. Laesch of Superior, Wis.
The bride wore a long-sleeved white satin gown with sweetheart neckline, Basque bodice and train. Her long veil was held in place by a wreath of orange blossoms worn by her mother and maternal grandmother. Her bouquet was of white gladioli, stephanotis and gardenias.
Mrs. Elwood Hans of Evanston was matron of honor and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Chester Schroeder, Miss Betty Ritter, Miss Juliann Kretlow, all of Evanston, and Mrs. William Bensch of Pittsfield, Mass.
Richard Hillert, Jr. of Granton was best man, and the groomsmen were Paul J. Grass, Racine, Alexander Canapa, Milwaukee, Robert Hillert, Rockford, Ill., and Elwood Hans, Evanston.
Those persons from Granton who attended the reception at Evanston include: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trimberger, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Trimberger and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sternitzky, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sternitzky, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hillert and Richard Hillert, Jr.
The couple went on a wedding trip through northern Wisconsin, Michigan and Canada, and will reside at River Falls, Wis., where the groom is attending River Falls, State Teachers’ College.
