Kelpin, William (26 DEC 1857 - 5 MAY 1947)

William Kelpin, 89, died May 5, 1947 at Rochester, N.Y., where he had gone with relatives to attend the 25th wedding anniversary celebration of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Kelpin, on May 3. He died suddenly of a heart ailment. Brief services were held at Rochester on May 6, and the body was taken by his son, Arnold, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Scheeler and Mrs. Emma Warleben, to Chicago Park, Calif., where service were conducted on May 10, and burial was made beside his wife who died Oct. 1, 1937.

William Kelpin, son of Fred and Marie (Blum) Kelpin, was born Dec. 26, 1857, in Germania, Germany. At the age of 23 he came to America, landing here the day of President Garfield’s inauguration, in 1880. He resided 37 years in the town of Grant (Clark Co., Wis.), where he was engaged in farming. He served the church at Mapleworks as elder. Six years of his life were spent in Rochester, N.Y., and he went with his wife to Chicago Park, Calif., where they lived 22 years. Recently he made his home at Abbotsford at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Scheeler.

On Nov. 18, 1882 he was married to Wilhelmina Blum at Rochester, N.Y. besides the three children named above, there are three other sons: Charles Kelpin of Grass Valley, Calif., Paul Kelpin of Payette, Idaho, and Herman Kelpin of Sacramento, Calif. The daughter, Mrs. Warieben, resides in Fond du Lac, Wis. Two sons, John and Otto, and two daughters, Anna, Mrs. Carl Bloche, and Martha, Mrs. Ralph Gravelle, are deceased. One brother, August Kelpin, of Rochester, N.Y., survives. There are 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
