Thieme, Pearl Helen (Marriage - 7 Jan. 1956)

Miss Pearl Helen Thieme, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Thieme of the town of Hoard, Clark county, and Richard Lee Mengel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Mengel of Owen, R.F.D., were united in marriage January 7th at 1:30 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Curtiss. Rev. Martin H. Krause officiated at the ceremony. Mrs. Henry Peterson and Mrs. Victoria Thompson sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Twenty-Third Psalm" accompanied by Mrs. Jack McCorrison.

Attendants for the bride were her sister, Miss LaVerne Thieme, and Mrs. Lloyd Clarkson, sister of the bridegroom. Eddit Wendt appeared in the role of best man and Lloyd Clarkson was groomsman.

Ushers were Donald Marcott and Jeff Miller.

When the bride approached the altar on the arm of her father, she was attired in a floor-length gown fashioned of lace with tiny net pleats down the front. Her pearl headpiece held a finger-tip veil, and she carried a floral arrangement in which were red, white and lavender carnations with wide white satin ribbons.

Red and lavender were repeated in the dresses worn by the attendants - lavender for Miss Thieme and red for Mrs. Clarkson. Floral headpieces matched the colors of the floor-length dresses of net and taffeta, and they carried pillow bouquets of white carnations in combination with lavender and red.

Black accessories and carnation corsages accented the ensembles chosen by the mothers of the couple. Mrs. Thieme was present in a blue-flecked suit and Mrs. Mengel wore a navy blue dress.

Following the ceremony, guests were greeted by the couple at the bride’s home, where supper was served to 200 guests. Streamers in the bride’s colors decorated the home for the supper, and a large cake topped with a miniature bridal pair and set between white tapers decorated the refreshment table.

Later in the evening a wedding dance was held at Curtiss Hall.

For the past several years, the bride and bridegroom have attended the state school for the blind at Delavan. They are planning to make their home with the bridegroom’s parents.

Guests at their wedding came from Ogema, Colby, Abbotsford, Redville, Withee and Owen.
