McLane, James E. (1877? - 6 FEB 1947)

Mrs. Mike Murphy of Acadia Valley, Alta, Canada, has written The Press of the death of James E. McLane, a former resident of the Christie (Clark Co., Wis.) area. She writes, "James E. McLane died suddenly of a heart attack on Feb. 6, 1947. He was 69 years of age. He was born in Quebec and later his parents moved to Wisconsin, settling at Christie, where he grew to manhood. He spent many winters in the woods of northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, and summers in the Dakota harvest fields.

"In 1904, he took up a homestead at Crosby, N.D. After some years he came to Canada and in 1911 took up a homestead near Acadia Valley. Here he resided until the time of his death. His quick wit and jovial disposition made him a favorite. Interment took place in the Catholic Cemetery at Acadia Valley."

Mrs. Murphy is the former Margaret Hughes of Pleasant Ridge. Her husband was at one time a resident of the Christie community. Mr. McLane was a cousin of Mr. Murphy.
