Servaty, John (1867 - 24 DEC 1946)

Burial services for John J. Servaty, 81, a former Clark County, Wis. resident, were conducted Saturday afternoon, Dec. 28, at the Neillsville Cemetery, by the Rev. Floyd A. Fahlgren, pastor of the Methodist Church. Mr. Servaty died Dec. 24, 1946, at the family home on Lake Namakagon, near Cable, Wis. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Claire and Lynn, and a daughter, Madeline.

John Servaty was born near Belvidere, Ill., and came as a child with his parents to this county. They settled in Neillsville and lived for many years on the north side, in the house now occupied by the Robert Prochazka family. He attended the Neillsville schools and when a young man went to Owen, where he engaged in the lumber business. In 1936, he moved with his wife to the home near Cable. He resided in Clark County about 70 years.

He was the youngest child of his father’s family, and was the last survivor of the family. A brother, Charles, died several years ago in Fresno, Calif. His sisters were, Mrs. Will Klopf, Mrs. Madeline Mick, Mrs. Katherine Hinds, and Miss Julia Servaty, all deceased.

Miss Julia Servaty was a teacher for many years and was at one time county superintendent of schools in this county.

Pallbearers were former business associates from Owen: V. P. Barager, H. M. Wollum, R. E. Gabriel, Harvey Weddig, W. K. Donovan and L. W. Cattanach.
