Lemont E. Brown died at his residence here (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) Thursday, Nov. 19, 1903. He had not been in good health for a year of so, but was about town as usually until Sunday evening previous to his death, when he suffered an attack of Bright’s disease, which cause his death.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the house, conducted by the Masonic Lodge of this city, of which he was a member, Rev. Longenecker offering prayer. The singing was a male quartet.

Deceased was born at Benton, Me., April 17th, 1851. He came to Clark Co. in 1868, at the age of 17, working in the woods for lumbermen. Later he was put in charge of the John Paul Lumber Co.’s operations on Black River. After wards he, with Gus Hosley, logged in Northern Wisconsin, making a good thing out of it, and retired in comfortable circumstances. He owned an interest in the Neillsville flouring mills at the time of his death, a find home, and other property.

He leaves a widow, Laura E. Brown, and the following brothers and sisters: Emma F. Robinson of this city, Henry Brown, at the old home near Waterville, Me., David Brown of Benton, Me., and Mrs. R. Wells of Clinton, Me. His mother is still living, aged 88, making her home with Henry. He left no children.

Mr. Brown was a man of integrity in business affairs. He had many warm friends, and will be long remembered as the type of lumberman now rapidly passing away. He had felt that death was near, and on the day before he was taken sick saw that his insurance dues were paid up, and his affairs were in order.
