Karnitz, Maria (25 February 1870 - 17 April 1946)

Mrs. Maria Karnitz, 76, was buried in the North Pine Valley Cemetery, following funeral services Saturday afternoon at the Georgas Funeral Home, Neillsville, and Zion Lutheran Church, Pine Valley. The Rev. Leonard Domke officiated. She died April 17, (1946), at her home in Pine Valley.

Mrs. Karnitz, nee Maria Huhn, was born in Germany February 25, 1870, and received her early education in Europe. At the age of 21 she came to this country with her family and settled on a farm in the Town of Pine Valley. She was married in Pine Valley June 17, 1892, to Fred Karnitz, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are six children, Tony at home; Mrs. Walter (Alma) Durst and Ernest of Neillsville; Ed of Barron; Albert of Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Jake (Lillian) Wallace of Lake Villa, Ill. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

The pallbearers were Edward and Fred Pollnow, Albert and Arthur Dux, Albert Wegner and Ernest Marden.
