Neillsville--Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ here for Charles E. Seif, 93, of Neillsville. He died at Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon.

The Rev. Gary L. Clark, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home from 2-9 p.m. today and until noon Friday, when the body will be taken to the church.

Mr. Seif was born Feb. 14, 1883, in the Town of Sherwood, Clark County, and was educated in the Town of Seif. He worked as a logger in Clark County and also in the State of Washington. He later operated a blacksmith shop in Neillsville and then joined his father in the implement business here, retiring in 1946. He moved to LaCrosse in 1953 and resided there for 20 years, returning to Neillsville in 1973.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ, the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 198, and had been a supervisor on the Clark County Board.

He married the former Elsie Wood on June 18, 1909, at Neillsville. She died in 1953.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Gertrude) Hemp, Mosinee; three sons, Chester, Augusta, Dale, Neillsville, and William, Rockford, Ill.; a brother , David Seif, Neillsville; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased in death by five brothers.

Seif, Charles E. (14 February 1883 – 2 December 1975)

A native of the Town of Sherwood, Charles E. Seif of Memorial home, died Tuesday, December 2, at the age of 92. Funeral services were held Friday from the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Seif, the son of Fred and Mary Wiesner Seif, was born February 14, 1883, in the Town of Sherwood and was educated in schools in the Town of Seif. For a time, he did logging in Clark County, then moved to the state of Washington where he also logged. Upon his return to Neillsville, he operated a blacksmith shop and later joined his father in the implement business. Mr. Seif retired in 1946 and moved to La Crosse in 1953, where he worked and lived for 20 years before returning once again to Neillsville in 1973.

His marriage to the former Elsie Wood took place June 18, 1909, in Neillsville. Mrs. Seif preceded her husband in death in 1953.

Mr. Seif was a member of the United Church of Christ and of I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 198. He was a former county board supervisor.

Survivors include four children, Mrs. Richard (Gertrude) Hemp of Mosinee, Chester E. Seif of Augusta, Dale Seif of Neillsville and William Seif of Rockford, Il.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, David Seif of Neillsville.

Pallbearers were Pete Smith, John Bergemann, Mark Vornholt, LeRoy John, Jerry Opelt and Donald Braatz.

Rev. Clark sang, “Jesus Savior Pilot Me’ and “How Great Thou Art.” Deon Spangler was the accompanist.
