THORP -- Bernard Martin Goodman, 89, of Thorp died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Thorp.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Huron.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary service Thursday at the Thorp Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Bernard was born April 21, 1919, in Chippewa Falls to Bernard A. and Barbara M. (Smasal) Goodman. He served in the National Guard while in high school. Bernard was united in marriage to Bernice Jenneman on Feb. 14, 1942, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Boyd. Bernice preceded him in death April 6, 2008. The couple had farmed in the town of Delman and in the town of Worden. Bernard then worked at Chippewa Woolen Mills. They then moved to the town of Ludington where they owned the Pine View Tavern, then purchased a farm in the town of Aurora, which they owned and operated for 29 years. They sold the farm in 1980.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas (Margaret), Lafayette, Colo., Dennis (Marge Waichulis) Stratford, Brian (Kathleen), Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
