Hodgson, Virginia M. (1848? - 2 NOV 1901)

Mrs. Virginia M. Hodgson of 735 West First Avenue, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1901, of dropsy, and cancer of the stomach, after a long illness.

Deceased was 53 years of age and had a large circle of friends on the West Side. She was a member of Colfax Lodge No. 11, Daughters of Rebekah, and also of Order of Friendship No. 1.

The funeral services were held from Hall’s undertaking parlors Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Austin M. Chapman officiating. The casket was literally covered with flowers. The Rebekahs gave a beautiful wreath of roses and carnations inscribed "Colfax No. 11," and the Order of Friendship sent an immense bouquet of carnations.

Interment was at Fairmount cemetery. There were impressive ceremonies at the grave by the Daughters of Rebekah, of which order deceased had been a member for about 26 years.

Besides her husband, Thomas L. Hodgson, she leaves an aged mother, Mrs. James Sturgeon of Melvin Colo., and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Schaeffer, who has devotedly cared for her mother during her long illness (West Side Hustler, Denver, Colo.)

Deceased formerly resided here (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.), where she is well remembered by many, and where she leaves several relatives.
