Knudson, Nina Augusta #3 (01 AUG 1889 - 18 FEB 1944)

Funeral rites for Mrs. Leonard Knudson were held Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1944, at the Trondjhem Lutheran Church at Greenwood.

Nina Augusta Knudson, nee Gaarder, was born near Albany, August 1, 1889. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 12, she moved with her parents to a farm near St. Ansgar, Ia., where she grew to womanhood. She was graduated from the St. Ansgar High School, and was a teacher in the rural schools there for two years. On March 21, 1911, she was united in marriage to Leonard Knudson of Brodhead, Wis. Six children blessed this union. Following her marriage, she moved with her husband to a farm at Brodhead. The following year they moved to her parent’s farm at St. Ansgar. Four years were spent in Carpenter, Iowa, where she acted as assistant to her husband in the Post Office there. Later she spent several years in Estherville, Iowa, from there moving to Ladysmith, where she acted as Sunday School Superintendent in the church there. One year was also spent in Montana. Later they moved to Clark county, near Greenwood, where she was active in church work in the Trondjhem Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. From there they moved to their farm near Atwood, where they lived for seven years, then moved to their home at Withee, where she passed away at 2:20 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18, 1944, after an illness of a year and half. She had reached the age of 54 years, 6 months and 17 days.
