Hemp, Kathryn Johanna (4 Mar. 1893 - 12 Oct. 1945)

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn Hemp, 52, of Neillsville, were held Monday, October 15, at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Temple. The Eastern Star services were conducted by Rev. George W. Longenecker. Burial was made in the Neillsville cemetery.

Neillsville arrangements were in charge of the Jaster funeral home.

Mrs. Hemp died at the Miseracordia hospital, Milwaukee, on Friday, October 12.

Mrs. Hemp was born Kathryn Johanna Kearney at Neillsville on March 4, 1893. She received her education in the Neillsville public schools and worked as a cashier in the Zimmerman store (now the Farmers’ Store) until the time of her marriage to William F. Hemp on June 27, 1916. Mr. Hemp died December 1, 1944.

Mrs. Hemp was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Eastern Star.

Those surviving are: her son, Lt. (j.g.) Kearney William Hemp, stationed aboard the U.S. Navy Carrier, Wasp, and four brothers and sisters: Miss Mary Kearney and Mrs. Edward Hernky, Milwaukee; Arthur Kearney and William Lance, Green Bay. The son was unable to attend the funeral.
