Zipfel, John Fredrick (12 Oct. 1894 - 14 Aug. 1945)

Funeral services for John Fredrick Zipfel, 51, who died at his home in the town of Grant August 14, were held Friday at the Zipfel residence and at St. John’s Lutheran church, the Rev. William Baumann officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville cemetery. His death was caused by arthritis, from which he had suffered for the past 10 years.

Mr. Zipfel was born to Anna Martin and Louis Zipfel on October 12, 1894, on the farm in the town of Grant. He was married to Emma Hillert in the town of Grant September 16, 1925, and they had lived on the same place all of the time. Two children were born to them. Ruth was graduated from the Neillsville high school with the class of 1945, and Raymond has finished two years in high school at Neillsville.

Mr. Zipfel’s favorite sports were hunting and fishing. However, in the later years he had not been so active in these as his health did not permit.

He is survived by his wife, the two children and a sister, Elsie, Mrs. Adolph Meyer, town of Grant. His father preceded him in death March 9, 1928. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Anna Zipfel, who resides in Neillsville.

Pallbearers were Alvin Eisentraut, Arnold Drescher, Arthur Hubing, Ben Dux, Ernest Kuechenmeister and Arthur Drescher.
