Baumann, Mildred R. (Marriage - 2 Sept. 1945)

In a double-ring ceremony Mildred R. Baumann, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. William A. Baumann of Neillsville, and the Rev. Alton F. Wedel, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Karl Wedel of Sullivan, Wis., exchanged vows Sunday, September 2, at 4:30 in St. John’s Lutheran church. The Rev. William Baumann was officiating pastor, while the Rev. Karl Wedel addressed the young couple.

The bride wore an empire white satin dress with net skirt and train. Her lengthy tulle veil was edged with white and ruffles and satin godets. She carried a white leather Bible crowned with a white orchid and flanked with lilies of the valley.

Miss Grace Baumann, maid of honor and sister of the bride, wore an ice blue satin tiered gown. Her large net bonnet matched the dress. The little flower girls, Kathleen Sievert and Marion Wedel, were dressed in similar attire and carried baskets of rose petals. The bridesmaids, Misses Esther Werfelmann, Wilma Schlie and Valeria Einhorn, all of Elgin, Ill., wore bouffant peach satin gowns, white gloves, and carried bouquets of salmon gladioli, blue delphinium and white roses.

The best man was Henry Ebling, student of Concordia seminary, St. Louis, Mo., and former classmate of the groom.

The ushers were the Rev. Herbert Mueller of Milwaukee, Student Paul Dietz of Milwaukee, and the Rev. Harold Wuebben of Glenwood City, Wis.

The wedding party entered the church as the organist, Karl Wedel of Milwaukee and brother of the groom, played "Jesus, Joy of Men’s Desiring" by Bach. Miss Christine Biederman of Elgin, Ill., rendered "The Lord’s Prayer" by Malotte, and "The Lord is My Shepherd" by Liddle.

The church altar was decorated with palms and salmon gladioli, and salmon gladioli sprays were tied on pew ends down the main aisle.

Following the ceremony open house was held at the home of the bride’s parents for friends and members of the local congregation. A 6:30 dinner and reception was held in the Lutheran assembly room for relatives. Erich Sievert presided over the reception.

Mrs. Wedel is a graduate of the Stout Institute, Menomonie, where she received her bachelor of science degree. For the past year she has been dietician in Sherman hospital, Elgin, Ill. Mr. Wedel was graduated from Concordia seminary in St. Louis this past July with the degree bachelor of divinity. They will be at home in Eston, Saskatchewan, Canada after October 1, where Mr. Wedel will enter his pastorate.
