Shortly after her birth, Mary's family moved to Greenwood and purchased a farm north of town. She was raised on the farm and received her education at Hemlock School and St. Mary's Catholic School. As a young woman, she worked for families in the Greenwood area doing domestic work, milking, baby-sitting or whatever was needed.

They retired in 1971 and moved to Withee. Mary worked at the Havenette Nursing Home in Owen and took night classes to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Her husband died Jan. 20, 1982. Mary continued to live in Withee until moving to the Black River View Apartments in Greenwood in 1995. She resided in Greenwood until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in November 2005.

Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its St. Ann's Society and also volunteered at the Clark County Health Care Center. She had many interests but especially enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening, sewing, canning, raising her chickens and helping others.
