Haavisto, Ronald E. #2 (17 NOV 1943 - 3 AUG 1945)

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 1:30, Aug. 6, for Ronald Haavisto, 21 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Haavisto, who lost his life in an accidental drowning on the farm of his parents, Friday, Aug. 3, 1945.

Rev. George Autio, Owen, officiated at the final rites. Pallbearers were: Kenneth Rohr, Clyde Ehlert, William Kovach, Dewey Phillips, Harvey Dumler and David Wachsmuth.

Flower girls were: Bernetta Molle, Janice and Jean Alexander, and Joan Witt.

The tragic death occurred shortly before noon last Friday when Ronald was last seen playing in the area of the barnyard. About 20 minutes after he was last seen, his mother found his drowned in a large kettle of water which was used to water the calves. The kettle contained about 18 inches of water. Dr. G. Shields of Abbotsford was summoned to the farm home who in turn called Coroner H. Brown, who pronounced the case an accidental death.

Ronald Eugene Haavisto was born at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) on Nov. 17, 1943. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Carl 15 and Delbert 4, and by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pipkorn, Spencer, R.1, and Mrs. H. Haavisto, Town of Longwood.
