Chabot, Lawrence B. (29 SEP 1882 - 11 APR 1945)

Lawrence B. Chabot, a resident of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) for many years, died at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn., Wednesday morning, April 11, 1945, at four o’clock, of tumor of the brain. His son Lawrence, being with him at the time.

Mr. Chabot was born at Boyd, Wis., Sept. 19, 1882. While still quite young he moved with his parents to Chippewa Falls and then to Cadott, where he entered school and continued his studies until his graduation from high school in 1900. He taught school at Stockland, Wis., for two terms and then in the grade school of his home town village, in Cadott. He came to Owen in 1904 where he entered the employ of the John S. Owen Lumber Co., and remained with them for the past forty years, at the time of his death he was Secretary of the company.

In 1906 he met and married Miss Elsie Haigh, who at that time was stenographer in the offices of the J.S. Lumber Co. Two sons were born to them, Robert who died at the age of five years, and Lawrence Jr., residing in San Diego, Calif.

Mr. Chabot was a member and a vestryman of St. Katherine’s Church from the time it was dedicated. He also acted as clerk of the church up to the time of his death. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. For seventeen years he was treasurer.

He is survived by his wife Elsie, and son Lawrence Jr., also one brother and three sisters: Ambrose Chabot of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. F.P. Clark of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. E.L. Bly of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mrs. D.R. Richardson of this city.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Katherine’s Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Father Ortmayer officiating. He was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.

Culbertson of Stanley, Mrs. J. Gamon, and Miss Margaret Gamon of Park Falls, Mr. and Mrs. F. Redard, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Redard, Mr. and Mrs. R. Redard and E.J. Crane of Chippewa Falls.
