King, Julia Elizabeth (17 Aug. 1867 - 3 June 1945)

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia King, 78, life-long resident of the community, will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Schiller-Terhune funeral home. The Rev. George W. Longenecker, pastor of the Congregational church, will officiate. Mrs. King died Sunday, June 3, at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, after an illness of ten days. Burial will take place in the Neillsville cemetery beside her husband, who died in 1940.

Julia Elizabeth Brown, daughter of the late Jacob and Alice Brown, was born August 17, 1867, in the town of Grant. She spent her entire life in Clark county, with the exception of the winters which she had spent in recent years with her daughters in Crandon.

Following her marriage to James King, March 21, 1882, they lived for seven years in Neillsville. In 1889 they moved to a farm in the town of Grant, where they resided until 1920, when they returned to Neillsville.

Mrs. King was a member of the Congregational church and of the North Side Friendship club. She was a woman of quiet, home-loving disposition, and was loved by a large circle of relatives and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Edith, Mrs. George Swann, and Blanche, Mrs. Walter Carter, both of whom reside at Crandon. There are two grandsons: Sgt. Herbert Swann, who has recently returned after one and a half years service in Europe; and Pvt. Jack Carter, who is stationed at Waynesboro, Ga. Both grandsons are here for the funeral.

Pallbearers are: Louis Scholtz, Forrest Selves, William Vine, Ernest Vine, Roy Suckow and Ellery Moberg. The music will be furnished by Mrs. Louis Scholtz, Mrs. Virginia Gassen, Clarion Counsell and Harold Huckstead.

Relatives here for the services include: George Swann, Walter Carter, Mrs. Etta Carter and Mrs. Herbert Swann, all of Crandon. The daughters, Mrs. Swann and Mrs. Carter, cared for their mother during her illness.
