Garbisch, Augusta (2 Aug. 1861 - 30 Aug. 1944)

Funeral rites for Mrs. Augusta Garbisch, 83, of the town of Grant, were conducted Sunday, Sept. 3, at the American Lutheran Church, two miles south of Granton, preceded by brief services at the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton. The Rev. Leonard Domke was the officiating pastor. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Garbisch was born, Augusta Riedel, in Germany on Aug. 2, 1861. Most of her life had been spent in this country, the family residing on a farm south of Granton. She died of a heart attack on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the home of her son, Carl, who resides on the home farm.

Mrs. Garbisch is survived by two sons, Emil and Carl, both of the town of Grant. One son, Walter, died in 1909, and her husband in 1915. Three children, Laura, Theodore and Phillip, died in childhood. Two brothers and a sister are also dead. There are seven surviving grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Flower bearers for the funeral services were, Patty Rae Dorst, a great-granddaughter, and Naomi Moh and Virginia Larson, also relatives.

Pallbearers were: August Hillert, Paul Garbisch, Paul Goebel, Walter Wischulke, Edward Wischulke, and Herman Riedel.

This woman is my great aunt. She was a sister to Ferdinand Riedel. I would like to know where they immigrated from. It was in Germany.
