Walter English, aged 54, the chief of the Wausau Police department died Saturday night at a downtown Milwaukee hotel of a heart attack suffered shortly after his arrival to attend a ceremonial of the Tripoli Shrine. He was a veteran of 32 years in police work. He was a member of the Milwaukee police department from 1912 to 1936, serving as a detective sergeant and head of the morals squad prior to his appointment as Wausau chief.
