Wirkuty, Anton J. (2 May 1886 - 20 Sept. 1977)

Wirkuty Funeral

Neillsville--Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Gorgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Anton J. Wirkuty, 91, Route 1, Neillsville, who died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.

The Rev. William A. Noble, pastor of United Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. today and Friday morning.

Anton J. Wirkuty was born May 2, 1886 in Lithuania and received his education there. As a young man, he came to the United States to continue his education, then operated a farm in the Plainfield area. In 1941 he moved to the town of York in Clark County, where he farmed.

He was married on Oct. 20, 1931 in Illinois to May E. Blood. She survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Walter in Brownsville, Ore., Leland of Racine, Alvin, Waukesha, and Harold, Neillsville, and 10 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one sister, two brothers and two grandchildren.
