Burial took place at Grant Cemetery, near the old home of the deceased. Death occurred at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, on February 22, and was due to a heart ailment.

Mr. King was born May 14, 1856, at Buffalo, N. Y. He came as a young lad with his parents, the late Edward and Elizabeth King, to the Neillsville community and has resided there ever since. He assisted his father in making brick, helping to make the bricks used in constructing many building in Neillsville and surrounding country. He resided on a farm in the town of Grant until 1937, when he retired, and came to Neillsville, making his home with his children and his sisters.

He was married to Miss Anna Waterman at Neillsville in 1883. His wife passed away in 1913, and two children also preceded him in death. He was a member of the Beavers Lodge, and while living on the farm, was an attendant of the Pleasant Ridge church. Mr. King was a man of unusually pleasant disposition, and was a faithful worker as long as his health permitted.

He is survived by four children, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The children are: Lydia, Mrs. Edward Francis, Labana, Ore.; Ellen, Mrs. Fred Darling, Beloit; Roy King, Neillsville; and Reuben King, Marshfield.

Also surviving are six sisters: Mrs. Lucy Brown, Mrs. Hattie Rodman, Mrs. Lillie Howard, Mrs. Tom Wren, and Mrs. Frank Rudock, all of Neillsville; and Mrs. Alma Spencer, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His brother, James King, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were four cousins, Ed. and Richard Sleeves, Fred and Frank Vine, and two other old friends, Louis Scholtz, and Alvin Eisentraut.

Relatives from away who were here to attend the funeral were Mrs. Fred Darily and Mrs. Merrill Darling, Beloit.
